Mushroom is a unique gift of nature and the only crop cultivated without soil for commerce in Earth. The fungus is a rich source of vegetable protein diet. Mushrooms are cultivated indoors inside a cropping room or an outside shade. It is grown on agricultural wastes like wheat straw, paddy straw, saw dust, dry banana leafs, wet papers etc. There are various types of mushrooms with only a small number of these edible. Mushrooms have its own requirement for growth. Different mushrooms require different raw materials as its substrate for growth.
Commonly cultivated mushrooms in India are button mushroom, oyster mushroom, milky mushroom, paddy straw mushroom and a few other exotic species. White button mushroom is the most commonly cultivated mushroom in the world, including India. Button mushroom is grown during the winter months naturally in the open fields with huts made of straw in North India. Now a days the environment controlled farms produce button mushrooms round the year. Milky mushroom is the fungus for summer season growing at a temperature range of 28-40°C. The costal belt of India with high temperature combined with high humidity is suitable for Milky and Paddy straw mushroom. Below are the species we offer:
Prima facie a winter mushroom. The fruit body is dark in colour. It’s a low temperature loving species. Most favourable temperature is 18-24 degree centigrade for the growth and fruiting of this mushroom
Sajor Kaju is known for its mouth-watering taste in the Pleurotus family. This mushroom is also known as Italian Oyster across world. The fruit body is deep grey in colour. It’s a high temperature tolerant species. Most favourable temperature is 20-32 degree centigrade for the growth and fruiting of this mushroom. The isolated fruit body consists of good weight and the diameter can grow up to 3-4 inch. This species is most favourable for Indian weather round the year.
The Pink Oyster is a summer species. It has a very attractive colour and fruit body. The pileus thickness is around 4 mm. The fruits generally appear in a big cluster.
Pleurotus Florida is the most coveted species of oyster in India due to its milky white colour. This mushroom is also known as albino mushroom in several countries. The fruit body appears in cluster and white in colour. Though it’s a low temperature tolerant species, 18-25 degree centigrade but it’s been noticed that this species can grow at a temperature of 28-32 degree centigrade. Most favourable temperature is 20-27 degree centigrade for the growth and fruiting of this mushroom.
The Yellow Oyster grows in 16-20 degree centigrade. It has a golden yellow colour during harvest. The mushroom has a velvet like feel when touched. The fruits have a long stripe and fleshy.
The Milky Mushroom is a pure fungus of summer. The fruit body is Milky white which grows around 4-5 inches at harvest. There are 10-12 fruit bodies with an average weight of 90 grams per fruit. It has very good flesh and bulky body.
Paddy Straw MushroomThis mushroom is egg shaped when young. A very sensitive mushroom. The mushroom naturally grows in the harvested paddy fields. The mushroom needs to be harvested at the egg stage for best result.
